Rejuvenation of Shahdara Link Drain
Delhi, India
Whole 4km stretch will be divided into water bodies and the treated water from CHILLA & KUNDLI STP will be released into those water bodies till average height of 2.5m to allow maximum water percolation. The existing drain is proposed to be dredged (for desilting) and deepened to allow the additional volume of water discharged into the water channel, while using the cut earth to build up the embankments and grade the slopes suitably for landscaping.
DJB is planning to divide this 4 km drain into 4 parts with 3 weirs which will hold treated water.
Formation of 3 distinct parts: Separated by 3 major East-west Movement
Corridor 1 is totally disjointed with the other parts by NOIDA Link Rd. and NH intersection. Possibility of Public open space creathing along the water chanel with activity nodes.
In Corridor 2 a nature stretch to be connected with the residential street.
In Corridor 3 a cultural stretch to be revived from concrete & parking.
