Jonaki Resort

Shantiniketan, India

The design for Jonaki Resort aims to provide sustainable tourism and leisure. The resort caters to guests seeking an immersive experience in nature while minimizing their environmental footprint.

The design focus is on biodiversity, water, cultural heritage & eco-friendly practices.

For the common block the inside-outside relationship is blurred with the help of:

  • Garden Court inside the building

  • Large Glass panes creating wide angle view of the nature outside

  • Play of natural light filtered through various types of openings

The resort is situated in the global cultural reference

The Amphitheatre carved out of land profile will offer space for cultural activities.

Water bodies to be used in 2 ways;

  • as an activity space, i.e. swimming pool,

  • as a rainwater collection pond, i.e. the lotus pond and will be separated by a bridge-like pedestrian causeway.
