Design of Ghala Village
Ghala, Sultanate of Oman
Ghala village is a traditional settlement adjoining the hill and outside of the existing East-West arteries of Oman. Ain Ghala, the spring here, is a natural water source, which is an important feature of the place. Historically, the settlement and irrigation were based on the source of water. Presently, a large area of palm cultivation happens along the water channel coming out of the spring. In the new setting, the SITE needs a sustainable development and there are reports of the citizens' active initiatives to promote the Ghala village hot spring as an attractive tourist destination, with well-maintained facilities, which in return could boost the local economy of the village.
